Beto Lugo Martinez

Executive Director, Clean Air Now Kansas City
Beto Lugo Martinez is an environmental justice organizer and executive director of CleanAirNow, he serves to raise community voices in the fight against environmental racism and to overcome systematic exclusion of frontline residents in fenceline communities from the decision making process. His organizing centers at the intersection of public health, climate and environmental justice, and is a member of multiple national climate & environmental justice networks. Beto has co-authored multiple academic publications on community based participatory research, air pollution, data accessibility, community engagement. He also serves on the Advisory board to American Public Health Association, (APHA), the USC advisory board for the Southern California Center for Children’s Environmental Health Sciences Translational Research (SC-CCEHTR) and the Advisory Board for the Community Engagement Core of the Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center at USC (SCEHSC). He is committed to finding ways to improve environmental health literacy, through equitable community and academic partnerships, and integrating community led research and solutions in public policy.
