Lancet reports Global Burden of Disease 2015 PM2.5 results

The April 10 issue of the Lancet reports that exposure to ambient particulate matter was the fifth-ranking mortality risk factor in 2015, causing 4.2 million deaths and loss of 103.1 million disability-adjusted life-years worldwide. The article, Estimates and 25-year trends of the global burden of disease attributable to ambient air pollution: An analysis of data from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2015, by Aaron Cohen and Michael Brauer and colleagues presents the latest results produced by HEI and other scientists for the ongoing GBD study.
