Managing Director, Warburg Pincus; Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Lucent Technologies
Henry Schacht has unparalleled experience in global industry and philanthropy. For more than 20 years, he was chairman and chief executive officer of Cummins Engine Company. He has also served as chairman and chief executive officer of Lucent Technologies. Along with Douglas Costle, then an administrator at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (and later an HEI Board member), Schacht was among a very small group of visionary leaders in government and industry who cofounded the Health Effects Institute in 1980. In addition to his current position at Warburg Pincus, he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; he is also a board member at several major international corporations and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has served as chairman of the board of the Ford Foundation, and is a former member of the Business Council and of the Business Roundtable.
