Maria G. Costantini
Maria Costantini has worked at HEI since 1987, developing research programs and literature reviews on fuels and fuel additives (such as diesel, methanol, and MTBE) and particulate matter. In recent years she has played a role in tracking new technologies and fuels and in overseeing the Advanced Collaborative Emission Study (ACES) to test 2007-compliant heavy-duty diesel engines, and has led a review of the literature, titled the Health Effects of Traffic-Related Air Pollution. More recently, she has been involved in managing the Multicenter Study of Ozone in Older Subjects (MOSES). Costantini holds a Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Milan, Italy. After graduating she conducted laboratory research at the University of Milan and then at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
